Pilates, the mind-body workout developed in the early 20th century by German physical trainer Joseph Pilates, has become one of the most popular fitness routines worldwide. Over the last few years, Pilates studios have opened across the Kingdom, especially in major cities such as Riyadh and Jeddah.

Several studios have opened in Jeddah in the past few years, presenting both homegrown and foreign brands to locals and expats in Saudi’s second-largest city. They have beautiful machines, wonderful instructors, and sleek designs so that clients feel stylish and inspired while working out. These are our favourite Pilates studios in Jeddah.

2. Tamo

The name of this Pilates studio is derived from the Japanese word for wood – the material used throughout Tamo's location in the Bupa Building on Prince Saud Al Faisal Road in Al-Khalidiyah. The vision for both the design and the studio was to create a tranquil and inspiring environment where clients could come to achieve their fitness goals.

The studio strives to focus on the mental and emotional gains of Pilates, as well as the physical benefits. Decorated in contemporary wood finishes and heightened by atmospheric lighting, the space provides the ideal place to retreat from the chaos of the outside world and focus on oneself.

Karve

Originally established in London, with another branch that recently opened in Dubai on Alserkal Avenue, Karve offers top-notch reformer classes that redefine the classical Pilates method and modern-day workouts. The décor is New York loft-inspired, with dim lighting and brick finishes that are also a feature in the original Kensington branch.

Workouts are centered on Karve’s signature low-impact, high-intensity Pilates classes on custom-designed reformer machines over the course of a 50-minute class. The focus is on strength training and mindful, resistance-based movements. At the end of the class, a mindfulness session allows clients to relax before heading back out into the busy city.
